ABOUT US

Kim attended Stephen F. Austin State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997 and a Master of Science degree in 1999, both in the area of Communication Disorders. She has been working as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the last 25 years and, in that time, has truly worked with patients across the lifespan. She began her career in a private practice seeing children for 1:1 therapy sessions, as well as in a school district working with groups of children in an elementary and middle school.

She moved on to work in the hospital setting where she treated patients in the acute and rehab inpatient setting, while continuing to see children on an outpatient basis. Once her first child entered the world, she switched to working in long-term care facilities (nursing homes) working with the elderly.

After adding two more children to her family and a couple of moves, finally settling in Portland, TX, she worked for a short time at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center and began to see adults and children in the home health setting before working at the Rise School of Corpus Christi.  Kim then worked for a short time with the local Early Childhood Intervention program and finally landed in a private practice for the last 4 years.

"Diversity is having a seat at the table, inclusion is having a voice, and belonging is having that voice be heard."

Kim has made many shifts in her career and, along the way, has received training in a wide variety of therapy techniques, such as VitalStim, Oral Placement Therapy, SOS Approach to Feeding, Spaced Retrieval, and Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention.  Currently, Kim works with patients in a variety of areas to include feeding, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, cognition, and receptive and expressive language disorders.

Finally, Kim has a passion for the inclusion of children with special needs in the general education setting. This passion stems from her daughter with Down syndrome and her journey in public school education, which has provided Kim with a unique perspective toward helping families reach their goals.
